Toby Keith - Big Dog Daddy

Toby Keith - Big Dog Daddy

Showdog Nashville
Bottom Line:

Toby Keith is back with his 11th studio CD and the second release on his own Show Dog label. It includes the first new single called "High Maintenance Woman." It's 11 tracks that features the softer side of Toby Keith. The Vocals and instrumentation are stripped down for a much more country sounding Toby. This is more like his old stuff, and that's a good thing!

Toby Keith is back with his 11th studio CD, 13 if you include both greatest hits CD's. It's also the second release on his own Show Dog label. And since starting his own label, Toby can now record and release the kinds of songs that he enjoys recording. The latest offering from Toby is called Big Dog Daddy And the first hit "High Maintenance Woman" is another top 10 success in a string of hits that keeps Toby Keith's name at the top of the charts. He packs 11 tracks with soft country ballads like the second single, "Love Me If You Can." With lyrics like "you may not like where I'm goin'/but you sure know where I stand/hate me if you want to/love me if you can." Toby makes no apologies for standing his ground for what he believes in. And Toby gets nostalgic for days gone by in the song "White Rose." It's a song about a run down old gas station from a small town, but back in it's heyday, it was the local hangout for all the teens. "I Know She Hung The Moon" is a song about all the guys making eyes with Toby's lady love. And he knows what they're thinking, but he already knows what he has when he sings "yeah I know she hung the moon, I'm the one who held the ladder." But don't think that this CD is all ballads, far from it. Toby really rips it up with country rockers like the title track "Big Dog Daddy."
Sounding like a cross between Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis, this is a fun, up tempo rockabilly number about a night on the town. But as you listen to it, you almost wanna start singing "Johnny Be Good." The song "Get My Drink On" is a fun, fast paced song about Toby heading to the local bar after his woman left him because he didn't treat her right. OK, so it's not a new idea, but Toby still makes it work. "Pump Jack" Has a killer driving beat! It's about working on an oil rig, something that Toby knows well. This is a great workout song. Pass me the weights and let's pump some iron! The CD closes out with probably the most rockin' song on the whole disc. The song "Hit It" is a slow, powerful rocker about just cutting loose and having a good time. This one is great to crank up on the open road with the top down. Over all, this CD has something for everyone. With his tender ballads and grab you by the shirt rockers, this CD is sure to please every TK Fan.
