George Strait - It Just Comes Natural

MCA Nashville
Bottom Line:

If you want a George Strait album that will knock your socks off, then It Just Comes Natural is the album for you. Produced by George, there are fifteen tracks ranging from ballad-y to full-fledged honky tonk. For old and new fans alike you should be pleased with this collection. This is a man with an amazing voice and it's no wonder why they call him "King George."

Songs with spoken word portions sometimes get on my nerves but thankfully that wasn't the case with first single Give It Away." The man knows she is leaving for good once she tells him to give away their possessions. She didn't even want her half because "There ain't nothing in this house worth fighting over." Looks like the man found his "cup of tea" in "That's My Kind Of Woman." She enjoys the same things he does and can also rope and ride. George Strait must now be a fan of Bruce Robison's writing because his song "Wrapped" is included on this album. I'm actually used to Kelly Willis' version, but George has the potential to take this high up on the charts. Loving her is easy because "It Just Comes Natural," in the album's second single. "He Must Have Really Hurt You Bad" must be the case for the woman who put her best dress on only to go to a bar and try to pick up another man. The story is told from the bartender's perspective. He says that he needs the tips but she should stay home tomorrow night and give herself a break.
The man in "Why Can't I Leave Her Alone" really has trouble forgetting about his former flame even though she's long gone. The thought of another man rubbing her back just kills him. "One Foot In Front Of The Other" has an upbeat sound to it to go along with the positive message of taking things in stride. "I Ain't Her Cowboy Anymore" just about breaks your heart and you really feel for the man in the song as he sings about how she called off a relationship. He told her he understood where she was coming from, but that's only because he's such a good ole boy. "Texas Cookin'" made me laugh a little bit as it is a fun song about the great food found in the Lone Star State. "Better Rain" is simply beautiful and George's voice really shines on it. When things are looking rough in "What Say," the man wonders if they could just stay together forever and work on the problems. The last track, "Come On Joe," is about a man whose late wife is in his thoughts and she's telling him to be strong in order to move on with his life.
