Bottom Line:

There is a refreshing new voice in country music that everyone will be hearing a lot of. Chuck Wicks has busted down the doors and burnt up the charts with "Stealing Cinderella," but now everyone can own his full length debut album Starting Over. Bringing back the traditional sound of country music, Chuck has proven that he can play with the best that country has to offer.

As soon as "Stealing Cinderella" hit the charts, Chuck Wicks gained a legion of fans and the respect of the country music industry. Once he moved to Nashville he wrote songs during the day, but by night he was parking cars at a local restaurant. After he started writing, word got out about the talent the "new" guy had. Well, this gave him the opportunity to start writing with some of the biggest names in town. However, when the night came, he had to come back to earth and park the cars of his daytime co-workers. This may have been the best training he could have received. Once Chuck signed to RCA Records, he was able to present some of the songs he had a hand in writing. Well, whether it was planned or not, his debut album ended up with eleven songs total, ten of which Chuck co-wrote. This kind of talent is rare. Some of the other writers that shared their talents were Monty Powell, Anna Wilson, Dave Berg, Rivers Rutherford, Jason Sellers, Blair Daly, Micheal Mobley and Jason Matthews. Everyone of these names are members of the elite Nashville songwriting community. This record leans a lot towards "love songs," but it's not over done. Chuck seems to know how a good love song is supposed to go, so why not run with it. "All I Ever Wanted" is a perfect example of those "love songs." It is about a couple just starting out and all of the emotions that goes along with it. It's a great song with a great beat.

"Good Time Comin' On" is a great story song. It's simply about a couple who are out by the water enjoying the day, and of course one thing leads to another and the rest is up to your imagination. The whole songs describes their surrounding. The music is great too. The acoustic guitar really shines in this upbeat tune.

"Stealing Cinderella" has got to be one of the greatest songs of the decade. The story alone is amazing. It is told by a young man who is going to be asking his girlfriend's father for her hand in marriage. Well, when he gets into the house, her father takes him into the living room and leaves him to look around. All he can see are the pictures of his girlfriend when she was a little girl running through the sprinkler, jumping on the bed and doing all the things kids do. Well this makes him realize that in her fathers eyes, all he is doing is "Stealing Cinderella."

The title track "Starting Now" is an awesome tune. The couple are going through a rough spot in their relationship, so he explains everything that he will try to do to change it.

"Man Of The House" will tear out your heart. There is nothing like hearing how war can affect a family, but seldom do you hear how it affects the children. Well this song puts it all into perspective. It's about a ten year old boy who tries to fill his father's shoes while he's gone to war. Out of all the different songs that touch upon war, this is at the top. There may be a lot of new talent in Nashville, but Chuck Wicks shines the brightest.
