About Jake Owen

Jake Owen grew up in Vero Beach, Florida., He also has a fraternal twin named Jarrod. He has always been very passionate about sports. At the very young age of 12, he took up golf, and he quickly discovered that he was quite good at it! Before long, he had his eye on trying out for the professional golf circuit. When he enrolled at Florida State University, Owen became a welcome member of the University's golf team. But as fate would have it, a serious waterskiing accident quickly ended any aspirations he may have had of ever becoming a professional golfer. So rather than studying, Jake spent his time learning to play the guitar. One night, he heard someone on stage playing songs at a campus bar. Jake asked the bar manager if he could have a shot at doing a few gigs there as well. And the next thing you know, Jake is on stage playing songs and getting free beer, making $75 a night and attracting the eye of several of the college women. He also formed a band called Yee Haw Junction and started putting some of his original songs in with the country covers that he was doing in his stage show.

About the CD 'Startin' With Me'

By now everyone has heard Jake's hugely successful hit song "Yee Haw." Well, that is just the beginning of possibly one of the best CD's of the year. The CD's title track "Startin' With Me," is all about Jake, as he laments about so many people and things that he's done wrong in his life. And if a change is going to come, It will be "startin' with me." The CD starts off with a driving country rocker called "The Bad In Me." With lyrics like "girl it feels so good the way that you bring out the bad in me," his lady love just can't seem to get enough of him. And what guy wouldn't love to be faced with this problem? The song "Something About A Woman" is a song that any guy who has been in love can relate to. You know that there is just something special about her, and you just can't put your finger on it. But you know how great it feels to be with her. The song "Ghost" is a sad song about a guy who is living with the memories of all he did wrong and all he's lost, because his first love for too many years was the bottle. And the only thing waiting for him at home now are the memories of all he's lost. "The Bottle And Me" is your typical crying in your beer over an old memory kind of song. Overall, this is a great CD!
