We got to talk to Kellie Pickler about a variety of subjects. Find out what she had to say.

AboutCountry: Was the recording process what you thought it would be like?

Kellie Pickler: Yeah! I mean, it's never exactly like what you think it's going to be like, because you don't know what it's going to be like if you've never experienced it before. But it was more fun than I had hoped it to be. It's always fun recording your own songs and writing your own songs. It was definitely a great process, it was fun in the making.

AboutCountry: How many songs did you write on "Small Town Girl?"

Kellie Pickler: Five of the songs I co-wrote on the album, including "Red High Heels."

AboutCountry: Do you have a favorite place to write?

Kellie Pickler: No, because I wrote on the tour. I was in a new city every night. The tour bus; I think being on the road just really inspires you, you know? Because you don't know how much somebody means to you or something means to you until it's not there anymore. So being away from everything, you tend to think of what you miss the most.

AboutCountry: What is your favorite song that you did write?

Kellie Pickler: The first song that I wrote was "Small Town Girl" and we thought that it was just appropriate to call the album Small Town Girl. "My Angel" and "I Wonder" are probably the most personal songs on the album. I really like all of them; I can't even pick a favorite. They're all my favorite! They're like my babies.

AboutCountry: Did you expect your career to take off the way it has from your appearance on American Idol?

Kellie Pickler: It's definitely a dream come true. I never thought that I would have my own album coming out. Because in the past seasons of American Idol, usually the first runner up and the winner are the only ones that really put out a CD, you know? So, yeah, I was very surprised and shocked when I found out that Joe Galante from Sony BMG wanted to meet me and was very shocked when he signed me. It was just an incredible day and it's just nice to finally have my dreams become a reality.

AboutCountry: Have you developed a taste yet for the California food, or are you still sticking to the safety of southern fare?

Kellie Pickler: It wasn't that it was Californian food, I like all different styles of food. My favorite food is Thai food. I love Japanese food and Chinese and Mexican and I love Southern fried food. I'm just not a big seafood fan.

AboutCountry: Do you collect anything other than shoes?

Kellie Pickler: Let's see… I don't think I really do!

AboutCountry: Are your friends with any of your fellow American Idol contestants?

Kellie Pickler: Yeah, I mean, we text each other every once in a while. It's hard because we're all kind of going down our own little path now in our careers. Most of us are in the recording studios, putting the albums together. You know, Kat's recording, Taylor's recording, Elliot's recording, Chris is recording, everybody's recording! I mean, right now it's kind of hard to keep in touch because everyone's so busy.
